FAQs
Can I use my Evergreen Maxi-spreader to distribute this Phostrogen Feed, Weed & Mosskiller 2?
Yes, use setting number 8.
How soon can pets and children go out on the lawn after applying this?
There is no need to exclude children or pets from treated areas. Nor does the product need to be watered into the lawn before allowing access. As long as this type of product is applied correctly there is no harm to wildlife, pets or children
How often do I need to re-apply Phostrogen Feed, Weed & Mosskiller 2?
Phostrogen Feed, Weed & Mosskiller 2 should not be applied more often than once every 6 weeks from April to September.
How long will it take the moss and weeds to die?
As long as it doesn't rain within 8 hours of applying the product the moss should die within 4 days after which it should be raked out. Weeds take slightly longer and can take anything between 1 and 4 weeks to die depending on the type of weed and the growing conditions. Cold weather or dry soil will slow weed growth and slows down the action of hormone weed killers.
When is the best time to apply this product to kill lawn weeds?
Lawns weeds are best controlled when they are actively growing and this is normally in spring when the soil is moist and conditions are warm. Always leave the lawn a few days after the last mowing to allow the weeds time to grow a little before applying the product and do not cut for at least 3 days after application to give the weeds time to absorb the weedkillers. Early morning on a dry day in April or May is usually when the best results are achieved.
Can I use Phostrogen Feed, Weed & Mosskiller 2 through any make of spreader?
Many but not all spreaders can be used to apply Phostrogen granular lawn products. You are advised to check the calibration using this simple method outlined below. It should take no more than 5 minutes.
  1. Weigh out 200g of product into the hopper of your spreader, choose a setting around 40g/sq.m or one for a similar sized granule.
  2. Start spreading the product on the lawn noting where you start and end.
  3. Measure the total area covered by the 200g (the width of the spreader in metres x total length of strip covered in metres) e.g. spreader = 0.5m, total length of strip is 10 metres. Therefore the area covered is 0.5m x 10m = 5sq.m
  4. Divide the total product amount by area covered to give the rate applied i.e. 200g over 5sq.m = 40g/sq.m. If your spreader is spreading within 10% of this then the setting is fine. If not then change the setting or walking and repeat the process until you find the setting that achieves the right rate of application.
